Yamaha YCC-T Drive by Wire Explained

The 2018 Wolverine X4 engine utilizes Yamaha’s YCC-T, a drive-by-wire system that converts the driver’s commands into precise throttle control.

Yamaha first used its YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle) technology on a motorcycle — the 2006 YZF-R6. Instead of a mechanical linkage/connection between the accelerator and the throttle, the physical linkage is replaced by sensors connected by wires that decide how much air/fuel mixture should enter the engine.

On the Wolverine X4, the YCC-T Drive by Wire system improves throttle response with a new ‘high-response’ servo motor for ultra-fast throttle application, 12-hole fuel injectors and a high-volume airbox with two-stage air filtration.

With the YCC-T Drive by Wire, 2018 Wolverine X4 owners can use a key and limit the speed of the UTV, making it safer for less experienced drivers. When the speed is restricted, a turtle icon will appear on the gauge cluster.
